Crash : How Stereotypes and assumptions affect us all

On Saturday 20th May, we'll use the Academy Award winning movie "Crash" as a starting-point for a discussion of race relations in the USA, and of the ways in which our prejudices and assumptions affect the way we interact with those around us. Join us for good food and great company at the Fireplace Mansion!

Dinner

DCIC will provide a main dish, drinks and desserts, but it's our international potluck dishes that make our buffets special. Please consider bringing a main dish or a salad. As always, we ask that you respect our Jewish and Moslem members by not bringing dishes containing pork, ham or shellfish. We encourage folks to bring vegetarian dishes and salads as well, for those guests who don't eat meat. There will be a moderate amount of wine served with dinner. Guests are welcome to bring additional wine for their own consumption, but please respect those who choose not to drink.

Schedule

Doors will open around 6pm. If you plan to attend, please reply to the Evite or buy your tickets in advance. Those who want to get free admission by contributing to the potluck dinner must reply to the Evite stating what type of dish they will bring, and must arrive no later than 7.30pm. Members who want to receive free admission in return for working one of the volunteer shifts must also reply to the Evite, and must arrange the volunteer shift in advance by emailing Tony at tony@dcinternational.org or calling 703-475-8328.

Getting There

Sufficient parking will be available on Adams Street and North 1st Street. Metro pickup with DCIC sign in front of Union Station Metro at 5.30pm can be arranged, but anyone who wants a ride must call ahead to 703-475-8328.

Tickets

Tickets will be $15 at the door or $12.50 in advance.
