Our Hospitality Program helps internationals to adjust to living in the US by discussing American culture, providing information on resources in the DC Metro area, addressing concerns about life in the US, etc.
All major DCIC events usually take place at Fireplace Mansion, 2301 First Street, NW 20001. For the most up to date information on DCIC events, please join our Yahoo Group. You can also email us at tony@dcinternational.org or telephone Tony Young at 703-475-8328. For a list of events held by DCIC over the last few months, check this page.
We regret that we have been unable to host our forums and fun evenings. This has been due to some circumstances beyond our control. Thank to all who’ve continually emailed ideas for development of the organization. Thanks also to all loyal members who continually offered best wishes and support.
We'll continue to do our best to bring back these forums so keep posted to this page for information.

DCIC members have a wide range of cultural, social, religious and political interests and concerns. We want our discussions to reflect that, but we need your help. Is there a particular topic you'd like to hear discussed at a DCIC meeting? Are you an authority on a issue that might be of interest to DCIC members, or do you know someone who is and who would be willing to speak at one of our meetings? Please email Tony Young at tony@dcinternational.org with your ideas, suggestions and feedback. We want to hear from you!
DCIC's bi-monthly socials are called the DCIC East-West Connection. For more details, see our Socials page.
The East West Connection meetings are once again being held regularly every first and third Saturday of the month from eight 'til late at the Fireplace Mansion, to enjoy the company of members of DC's diverse international community and to discuss a broad range of topics. In addition to interesting company, we will always offer a full dinner including a range of foods such as chips, dips, salads, a tasty and substantial main dish such as spaghetti, desserts, drinks and coffee. You have the choice of paying $15 per person at the door (higher for some special events), or bringing a main dish or salad (enough for at least 4 people) in lieu of each entrance fee. (If you choose to bring a main dish, we respectfully ask you to please be sensitive to people from the Jewish and Moslem faiths and not bring pork items. We encourage folks to make or bring some good salads and dishes for vegetarians as well.) In this way, we can create a wonderful, varied international buffet at every dinner party. New internationals who have been in the US for less than two years are always admitted free, as are our special guests. Many have found these events to be some of the most heartwarming and interesting in all of DC.
Salons are smaller events generally located in homes throughout the DC metro area and hosted by DCIC members. Attendance is limited, so RSVP's are required to attend these events. Please RSVP directly to the individual salon leader - see appropriate announcements for details. Directions and a contact phone number will be emailed to those who RSVP. Salon events are announced via the DCIC mailing list.
DCIC Salons can be led by any DCIC member who is an authority on, or simply has a passion for, a topic or theme relating to global culture. If you are interested in leading a DCIC Salon, please contact Tony Young at tony@dcinternational.org.
For our film salons, the doors open between 7.30pm and 8pm unless stated otherwise in the announcement. Afterwards, there is always a followup discussion of the film along with some social time. The movie is generally free but we ask attendees to contribute either by bringing a snack food or beverage to share with all, or by making a small donation. An exception is the French-American salon in Aspen Hill, which is a great potluck.
A French-American couple leads this well established Film Salon in their home in Aspen Hill, MD. Please check the Yahoo Group for details of upcoming presentations.
DCIC is looking for folks to help with tasks such as researching & posting key cultural events in DC as well as being a liaison to diplomatic, academic, international, cultural and religious organizations in DC. If you are interested in helping out with any of these, please email us at tony@dcinternational.org or telephone Tony Young at 703-475-8328.
